On Tuesday, September 15th, 2009 at the rotunda of the RI State House, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. we plan to recognized Outstanding Hispanic leaders for their contribution to improve the quality of life of their communities in the state of RI. The institute will present a rich program with a variety of Cultural display .
Some of the faith based and community leaders that are going to be honor are as follows:
Carolina Campos from CHISPA, Grace Gonzales from NHPRI, Melba Depeña, from the Providence Human Relations Commission, Sarah Suarez ABC News ,Rev. William Cruz and wife, pastor of New Life International Church in Pawtucket, Leonel Pasos director of Mundo Cristiano Newspaper, Mrs. Mercedes Mendez founder of miss RI Latina, Mrs. Sandra Lake founder of the Extraordinary women of the year award,Aida Crosson from the Attorney General's office for her remarkable public service ,Ivonne Grullon from the Providence School Dept., Rev.Santos Escobar pastor of the Abundant Life Church for developing an outstanding education and language program for the non-English speaking population in Providence, Rev.Augusto Rosales from Johnston for is remarkable work with families in need, Eulogio Acevedo for the political and social action empowerment, Millie and Julio Sabater from The Tabernacle for their community involvement and Mrs. Julia Feliz a teacher at Classical High School and a Minister for her outstanding work with deprived children and families in Pawtucket and many others . It will be a remarkable day in the history of Rhode Island .
The public in General should know about the contributions of Latinos in RI. We come from 21 Spanish Speaking countries ,we valued the opportunity that the USA has being given to our communities; and we are contributing to improve the quality of life in the state of RI. "The contributions of the Christian community and the Latinos in general in Rhode Island have being significant and we would like everyone to become aware of it", emphasized Dr.Tapia Rosario.
The Governor, the Attorney General office, the Providence City Council had confirmed their participation and we hope that other significant entities will do as well..
