The coalition Immigrants United, as a member of the Rhode Island Latino Complete Count Committee, will be holding an outdoor concert called “Rockin’ Into the 2010 Census – Counting on Olneyville!” (¡Contámos con Olneyville!) to promote the 2010 Census as well as celebrate Día de la Raza. The Census Bureau is supporting the event as part of their effort to reach out to the hard to count community. Immigrants United strongly supports participation in the Census because of the benefits and resources that an accurate count of the population can provide to the city of Providence as well as the state of Rhode Island in general.
The concert will take place on October 10, 2009 from 12:00PM to 4:00PM at the intersection of Manton Avenue and Pope Street in Providence and will feature the Guatemalan band, Fuerza Quichelence, from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Other special guests include members of the #1 television program in Guatemala, “Viva la Mañana” and television hostess, Melanie Galindo from Peten, Guatemala. Admission is free. The event is being held to educate and create awareness of the 2010 Census and its benefits for all. Remember: “If they don't count us, we don’t count!

La coalición de Inmigrantes Unidos, como miembro del Comité Latino de Cuenta Completa de RI, celebrará un concierto al aire libre llamado "Rockin 'Into the 2010 Census - ¡Contámos con Olneyville!" para promover el Censo del 2010 así como para celebrar el Día de la Raza. La Oficina del Censo está apoyando el evento como parte de su esfuerzo por educar a la comunidad que es difícil en contarse, así como los Latinos. Inmigrantes Unidos apoya firmemente la participación en el censo debido a los beneficios y recursos que un recuento exacto de la población puede proporcionar a la ciudad de Providence, así como el estado de Rhode Island en general.
El concierto tendrá lugar el 10 de octubre, 2009 de 12:00 mediodía a 4:00 de la tarde en la intersección de la Avenida Manton y la Calle Pope en Providence, y contará con la banda de Guatemala, Fuerza Quichelence, de New Bedford, Massachusetts. INMIGRANTES UNIDOS --- Inmigrantes Unidos fue fundada originalmente con el nombre Coalición de Rhode Island para Inmigrantes y Refugiados (Rhode Island Coalition for Immigrants and Refugees) en marzo de 1986. Ahora llamada Inmigrantes Unidos (Immigrantes United), la coalición esta comprendida de organizaciones de derechos civiles, organizaciones con miembros inmigrantes, proveedores de servicios, y organizaciones con miembros que nacieron en los Estados Unidos que hacen una campaña a favor de la justicia, el respeto, y los derechos civiles para lograr la equidad racial y económica para cada persona de Rhode Island.
