FAQ's
>>> What will I do?
Recruiting Assistants (RA's) serve as local representatives who get the word out about Census jobs in the communities to which they are assigned. As an RA, you are responsible for attracting people to apply for Census jobs.
>>> RA's also ...
Promote Census jobs to recruit new applicants.
Locate, set up, and run applicant employment testing sessions.
Ask communtiy organizations to donate space for testing and training.
Review and send applicants' materials to and from the Local Census Office.
>>> Where and when will I work?
RA's work in the field, where and when needed. This means daytime, evening and weekend hours, not exceeding 40 hours per week. In most cases, a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle are required to work as an RA. RA's who complete their assignments may be eligible to work in other positions in remaining operations.
Full-time commitments are preferred but given the need of languages, they MAY be able to accommodate a part-time schedule. The pay rate for RA's is up to $17.50/hr reimbursement for mileage and other authorized, related expenses.
If you are interested, you must attend one of our application / testing sessions with valid (not expired) form(s) of ID - passport, permanent resident card, driver's license, social security card, etc. Part of the application process involves a test - 30 minutes / 28 questions / multiple choice. They want to make sure that candidates possess certain basic skills required to perform their duties. Practice tests are available at various locations throughout the community and online.
* Although not necessary, you should include a resume and cover letter that expresses your interest in this particular position and your language capabilities.
For even more information, including a link to the online practice test, go to www.2010censusjobs.gov
You may call the Providence Office # 401-228-0920 to set up an appoinmet for an application / testing session. We have morning, afternoon, evening and weekend slots available.
Thanks!
