Roadmap to the Green Economy
Workshops, Document & Public Forum

Last summer, we started quietly working with the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) on a project called the Roadmap to the Green Economy. Having held a successful roundtable event, they immediately sought to build on that momentum with a series of workshops that would produce a 'roadmap' document to be released at a public forum event.

Needless to say, we think this is a hugely important project and were deeply honored to have helped lead it. We hosted the workshops here at the studio, and we were thrilled to see both new and familiar faces.

We worked with numerous authors and editors on the "final" text of V 1.0 - a working draft, and John Speck executed the layout. The document is available online with help from local start up Tizra who provide the pagination software.

Finally, we helped design and facilitate the public forum where the document was officially released. In addition to a rousing keynote address by Gen. Wesley Clark, the forum included a working session where participants commented on the roadmap and suggested next steps.

Providence & Beyond
Seeking Your "Change Case" for the March Cafe - The Practice of Change
Thursday, March 18, 2010, 8:30 - 10:30 AM

The content for the next Providence & Beyond learning cafe will come from real-world "change cases" in which P&B members participated. We need your suggestion or, better yet, submissions.

The project or effort should have something to do with the local or regional economy. It could have succeeded or failed or done a little of both.

If you have a suggestion or submission, read this blog post and leave a comment that:
  • Describes a change process or practice that moved people to embrace the next local or regional economy. What did you do to achieve the results?
  • Describes a change process that didn't work. What were the aims? What did you do? What do you think contributed to disappointing results?
  • Describes a current issue, problem or situation that inhibits change toward embracing a local or regional economy. What are the dynamics driving the resistance?
