TRINITY REP RADIO THEATER AUDIENCES INVITED TO FIRST EVER LIVE TAPING
Fundraiser set for taping on August 6 in Newport
PROVIDENCE, RI: Trinity Rep is pleased to announce plans to invite audiences to its first ever live taping of its Trinity Rep Radio Theater, created in partnership with WRNI, a service of Rhode Island Public Radio. Hosted by WRNI’s Morning Edition Host Bob Seay, the special installment of the show will be taped as part of a live fundraiser at the Jane Pickens Theater, 49 Touro Street in Newport on Thursday, August 6 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online at www.trinityrep.com, by phone at 401-351-4242, or at the Trinity Rep box office at 201 Washington St. All proceeds will benefit Trinity Rep Radio Theater.
“Since we first started broadcasting Trinity Rep Radio Theater three seasons ago, we have always wanted to have an opportunity to perform our shows for a live audience, and to get their real time feedback and questions, to make them a living part of the show,” states Trinity Rep Artistic Director Curt Columbus. “Now, we have a chance to realize this dream broadcast in Newport, while raising money to support Trinity Rep Radio Theater in the coming season.”
This special live episode features the talents of resident company actors Stephen Berenson, Janice Duclos, Phyllis Kay and Joe Wilson Jr. alongside Curt Columbus. The actors will read excerpts from and discuss Thornton Wilder's beloved portrait of Newport, Theophilus North. After taping at the Jane Pickens Theater, the show is slated to air on WRNI 1290AM Providence, 1230AM Westerly, and 102.7FM Narragansett on Friday, September 3 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 4 at 1:00 p.m.; and Sunday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. Free podcast subscriptions are also available online at www.wrni.org.
WRNI General Manager Joe O’Connor said the special live taping was “destined to give its audience the chance not only to see great storytelling in person but enjoy up close and personal the actors’ delight in describing their transformation into characters you can’t forget. The magic of theater that only Trinity Rep can produce combined with the intimacy and excellence that Rhode Island Public Radio offers will produce a remarkable evening one will not soon forget.”
Trinity Rep Radio Theater is made possible in part by generous support from the Carter Family Charitable Trust. The live taping is sponsored by William Vareika Fine Arts, Ltd. The program is co-produced by Trinity Rep Acting Company member Janice Duclos and Emily Atkinson, Artistic Associate for Communication.
